ABOUT

Formed in 2004, Smiley Baldazar is a musical act that defies genre, category, taste, and all other restrictions usually forced upon a rock group in this day and age. Their tastes and influences range to absurdly opposite ends of the spectrum and number too many to name. Their first album, “In Tents”, came out in 2005 to rave reviews in Cleveland Ohio area magazines and they had a very successful release party at The Winchester in Lakewood. The following year there were many great shows, festivals, and parties. In 2007, they released album 2: “Relax, It’s Out Of Control” to mixed reviews. This very long and varied disc was misunderstood and critically ignored. In 2008, the era of confusion began. Many band member changes, tepid gigs, and false starts inspired them to record disc 3: “Fresh Local Nectarines”. It came out in 2011 after a couple rough years. It was their crowning achievement and has been quietly moving units for the last couple years as the band finally regains momentum with the current 2013 lineup: Steve Smith on Vocals and Guitar, Mike Jacobs on Vocals and Guitar, Ed Holmok on Bass, and Ricky Muzick on Drums. Their 4th disc, an e.p. called “Scapegoats Of The Leonids” will be out in early 2014 as they reach the starting line of their next and best marathon yet!
