ABOUT

SONIC BOMB is a powerful female fronted 4 piece punk band from Boston Massachusetts. The band began in 2006 as singer JO’s band “JO and the MuthaF!..$%^ers” (a showcase for JO with help from an all star Boston crew: Dropkick Murphy’s drummer Matt Kelly, Tommy and the Terrors bassist Ryan Branigan and Lead Guitarist Lance Burnet and The Tampoffs bassist Greg Prestash on rhythm guitar). After the self-titled EP was released the band reformed as SONIC BOMB with full time members; JO (vocals and founder), Nate (guitar), Joe (bass) and Brian (drums).

The name SONIC BOMB stands for “a musical explosion” which describes the high-energy explosive charisma of the band’s sound and the band’s stand of “make music- not bombs”.

SONIC BOMB’s music shows obvious influences of 70’s-80’s punk bands such as “The Adicts” and “Cock Sparrer” to “Rose Tattoo” and “the Stooges” which combined with their passion and dedication to hard work help to keep them from being stuck in any one genre.

SONIC BOMB’s Israeli born front-woman JO leads the heartfelt lyrics and sing-along melodies. This fiery powerhouse brings energy, soul, chutzpa and depth to their punk sound with her Janis Joplin meets Wendy O Williams voice. JO was credited for singing backing vocals on Dropkick Murphy’s “Warriors Code” album in ’06. On guitar: Originally from Michigan, Nate plays catchy chord progressions and sings backups on most of the group choruses. Nate played in the punk band “Nonsense and Noise Polution” in Pittsburgh prior to joining the band. On drums: Brian MFer is a real animal- powerful yet precise. He uses his metal experience to bring speed and power to the bands songs without diluting group’s punk style. Brian played in the metal band “37” in South Shore prior to joining the band. On bass: Joe “Deuce” is a solid yet playful in the catchy walk rhythms he plays. He also sings gutsy backing vocals on all the choruses. Joe sang and played guitar in the punk band “Chaos Junkies” in Boston prior to joining the band.

SONIC BOMB has a tight and powerful sound on their recordings that blows up on stage. Their self-titled Demo cd “SONIC BOMB” is being distributed through their official website .sonicbomb, at Amoeba records (West coast) and at various online stores such as CDBaby as well as at the numerous live shows they play.
