Sonus Umbra is an internationally known progressive rock band, currently residing in Chicago. The band's roots started in Mexico City in the 1990's, releasing their first record as Radio Silence. As band members attended the University of Maryland during the 2000's to obtain degrees in Physics, 3 more records were produced, Sn.pshots from Limbo, Spiritual Vertigo and Digging for Zeros. After obtaining advanced degrees, two band members found themselves in Chicago, with the remainder scattered across 3 countries. In 2012, founding bassist, Luis Nasser, called upon his bandmates from a few cover bands (Fanfare and Silver Pipe) to join him in his next Sonus Umbra release. This version of the band (with variations) recorded Winter Soulstice (2013), Beyond the Panopticon (2016) and A Sky Full of Ghosts (2021). The pandemic took a toll on the band and our singer and local drummer bowed out. Luis was still writing up a storm and called upon his musical friends both locally and from around the globe to join him in creating Whiteout, the band's current release.

We have recently added a local drummer and are looking for a vocalist, male or female, who is looking to be a part of an original band with history, and collaborate on new music. Contributions will include taking on the lead vocal role, writing and arranging vocal parts, sharing your own original ideas for tunes, and when not singing, likely adding an instrument you play to the arrangements.
