I am the force behind Spooky Kool and I was born, Marcus Clayton in Cleveland, Ohio to Marcus and Iris Clayton. I grew up in the Glenville neighborhood where I attended Elementary, Junior and Senior High. Music has always been my passion as I began learning trumpet at the tender age of 11. I was playing professionally by the time I was 15 in the uptown district of Cleveland, Ohio at Club 105, Leo's Casino, and many other Cabaret style venues. I performed with a band named "The Upsetters." I traveled with Transnational Funk, but the most influential band was a nine piece original music (OM) group named "I" that performed with "Spirit" and "Law" at Case Western Reserve University and the "Smiling Dog Saloon." I traveled and took up residence in New Orleans, and then on to Los Angeles before settling down in Phoenix, Arizona where I performed funk with "Hard" and jazz with "The Wickit Kickit Band." Today I have returned to my roots and perform with the original music (OM) band, "Spooky Kool." For myself, I see music as a vehicle for the communication of important life changing, significant messages of inspiration and natural alignment with the universe (don't worry, you have to be prepared to receive inspiration before you can actually accept the change it brings about). For the most part, I love people and see only their potential and not their shortcomings or faults. I believe that life has meaning and that we all have purpose. Above all, I see life as a beautiful thing and cherish it within its finite boundaries. So I guess you can call me a little insane (what good artist isn't), but I love this world and all of its inhabitants. We are one!
