ABOUT

I organize Military Troop Benefit Fundraisers at local supermarkets in Gainesville and Leesburg, VA. I am looking for vocalists/guitar players primarily but any performing musician is encouraged to contact me. I have some ideas on how to take this to the next level.

I'm looking for a professional videographer and five to six solo performers/musical groups willing to perform for free and donate tips to one or several military charities. Charities we have donated funds to in the past include: Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project; the USO; T.A.P.S; Toys for Tots; BuglesAcrossAmerica; CellphonesforSoldiers; Operation: Pinecone; and Moving America Forward.

I plan to contact well-known authors such as Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, and request autographed books and either sell the books to the public with the proceeds to benefit the troops directly or, if the restaurant will assist me in selling raffle tickets in advance, offer the books as raffle prizes.
The next event I want to organize to benefit our military troops and their families will be a six hour musical Tribute for the Troops with a flyer posted at the restaurant's cash register a month in advance and an email campaign to our music fans from previous events. An ideal location is the Cracker Barrel (in Manassas) due to the gift store located next to the restaurant. Patrons can purchase stuffed animals and other toys and donate them to a Marine in dress blues who will be on hand to accept them on behalf of the US Marine Corps' annual Toys for Tots Christmas toy drive.

If you want to show your support for our military troops serving in Afghanistan and for their families here at home and are willing to play for tips I want to speak with YOU. We collect popular, used books for the USO Lounge at Dulles Airport, plus DVDs and video games plus personal letters for our troops. 100% of the proceeds we receive are used to send care packages, books and other encouragement and moral support to our military serving in Afghanistan, to military personnel who are recovering from traumatic wounds here at home and their families.

I built a 4x6 stage (made in America!) and I own a Fender Passport Sound system with two speakers (with stands) and two mics with stands. The sound system accepts three inputs including a CD player. Once the event is scheduled it is held rain or shine. I can be reached at 571 222-7059 or on my cell ph 571 233-7833 or by email: starwarryr. At the present time our fundraising activity is not registered as a 501c3 organization. When this question arises, and it does quite often, I mention this fact and point out that 100% of our donations wind up in the hands of genuine 501c3 charities. Before our recent move I had a three ring binder which I used to document all of our charitable donations and expenses (which I pay out of my own pocket).

In August 2009, on the day of our very first fundraiser at CiCi's Pizza in Leesburg, a member of Gov Mike Huckabee's staff at HuckPAC called the restaurant from California to ask me if I had a way to send books to troops serving overseas. I didn't have a clue how I was going to get the books overseas but I accepted the offer and a week or two later I figured out I could drop them off at the USO Lounge across from baggage claim #13 at Dulles Airport. Soldiers come through there 24/7 on their way to duty stations overseas and they can carry the books with them. ://./watch?v=-xe5IwRvkE0
In this video I am the guy in the blue jacket delivering 7 books written by and autographed by Governor Mike Huckabee.

Influences

Harry Chapin, Tom Chapin, Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, Paul Simon, John Denver, Beatles, Stones, Clapton, The Who, U2, Dire Straits, Beach Boys, James Taylor, John Prine, The Eagles, Irish music, Bill Monroe, Ricky Skaggs, Flatt & Scruggs, Bluegrass Album Band, Grand Ole Opry

Members Of Band

I am always looking for musical talent. I am considering the purchase of an autoharp, lessons, the whole bit. Since my musical background thus far is six years of clarinet and three years of bass clarinet I am familiar with the bass line so perhaps a bass guitar is a logical instrument for me. In addition to organizing fundraisers to benefit our overseas military troops I am interested in chamber music: clarinet, flute, cello, violin and bass clarinet.

EQUIPMENT

One sturdy, solid (just barely portable) 4' X 6' stage and I have a Fender Passport Sound System which accepts two mics. I also have two mics (with stands) and two speakers (with stands).

Hello,

I organize Military Troop Benefit Fundraisers at CiCi’s Pizza Buffet in Leesburg once a month. The general theme is Open Mic Night. Our next event is Monday, Nov 9 from 4-8 p. 10% of what the restaurant's sales to our party is donated back to our organization.

We have held three fundraisers in the past (Aug, Sept and Oct) and raised approx $360 plus we collect books and letters of encouragement for our troops. 100% of the money raised is used to send care packages, books and personal letters of support to our military serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The restaurant owner allows us to place a fishbowl on the stage for tips, "Support Live Music". We have a 4x6 stage and a Fender Passport Sound system with one microphone. The sound system accepts three inputs.

Location is CiCi's Pizza Buffet, 500 Ft. Evans Road, NE, Leesburg, VA (one block past the Home Depot and Factory Outlet Mall, in the shopping center on the left).

We hold this every month rain or shine, usually on a Wednesday the third week of the month. You can get more information at this website: www.LeesburgPizzaParty.com.
