ABOUT

New to Charlotte. I love to write songs. I love recording songs. I love fingerpicking my guitar, coming up with lyrical phrases, working out uplifting or soul crushing key changes, and I love programming bizarre synthscapes.

I dunno what I'm looking for here. I work my ass off all day, and when I have a free moment, I like to spend it with my wife. But music is missing from my life and I can't stop the songs from bubbling up. I'm not looking for a world tour or 24x7 "album project." I'm also over the relentless self promotion. I simply want to make some cool sh*t, but to be honest, I'm just testing the waters at this point.

I don't know what the context of my joining this site is. If it happens, I guess we'll know.

I am 33.

Influences

I'm not seeking people who go out on a limb to be obscure or bizarre, but I definitely prefer those that do their own thing. We all emulate others in our youth, as we grow, but there comes a time when your influences congeal into a unique combination of aesthetics and technique that is yours and yours alone.

I think that the elements you chose to comprise that magical formula, as well as your life experiences, are what make you different and valuable as both a musician and as a human being. That said, the most evident influences in my music are probably Nick Drake and Bert Jansch in the fingerpicked acoustic guitar category, Skinny Puppy, NIN, and Aphex Twin on the electronic end, and I dunno where to place myself in the vocalist category. It's really not my strong point...or is it?

EQUIPMENT

An old acoustic and a computer. I sold everything else because the crazy, starving artist for eternity shit came to an unceremonious but absolute finish.
