Original Artist

My main career has been as an artist/metalsmith/bladesmith. Music has been a life long passion and sideline. I've played in original bands around Tucson and Phoenix for a long time. Through the years, I've had many influences and have played with lots of great musicians. In particular and including, the pleasure of playing and recording with the world renowned guitarist Scott Huckabay, the guitar alchemist. I also had the honor of playing and recording with guitarist Bob Hill, of the Godz (legendary 1970s/80s Ohio band), after the Godz broke up. I actually played with a God! LOL... My forte has been 4 string electric bass, but I've recently taken up acoustic/electric washtub bass. It offers me a certain freedom from frets and structure. I like it because it's totally by ear, intuition and by feel. It also gets way down low, lower than low. Right now, I'm more interested in experimenting and evolving a new electric wash tub bass style with a digital processor and effects. I've played wash tub bass in the past, but not through an amp and effects before now. There is a lot more to explore than I had imagined. I'm getting some really cool acoustic effects too and can play in a wide variety of genres and styles, not just bluegrass. Although, I like bluegrass. :)

… I aim to be the Yngwie Malmsteen of the washtub bass.
