I don't necessarily feel comfortable talking about myself but that's because I'm naturally shy. Despite my overwhelming desire to avoid the spotlight and stage at all cost!....I've managed to do some extensive singing over the past fifteen (15) or so years! Family members have said that I sang all the time as a child...I don't remember that lol...BUT my earliest memory of being in front of an audience was when I was about 10 years old; I sang with the children's choir at my church. From that point I kept on singing. I sang in groups and choirs consistently over the next few years but it wasn't until I went to college and became a part of the campus choir that my singing truly developed. The choir traveled the island performing at various events and not only was I involved in all these performances but I also sang with an all female group that evolved from said choir. I also began to perform solos and duets as well (all choir members were expected to be in the forefront from time to time). I sang alto but my range was from soprano to tenor (low). After college I was drafted to sing with a gospel group (I was sought out and handpicked by the group leader who remembered seeing/hearing me sing on the choir when I was in college! to this day I still find that hard to believe) and remained with them for a number of years before the group eventually dissolved due member migrations. I then directed my churchs' youth choir for about three years before once again being approached to be a part of another gospel group. A group I remained with until I migrated to the States four years ago. Since being here however I have not sang, due to a variety of reasons but the music still calls to me. I miss singing! there's just something about singing and music in general that lifts my soul! After four years of not singing I am more than ready to start again! its like breathing...I need it! I long for it! I crave it! to sing again would be a dream come true!
