Mack Edwards Music Bio
McKeaver (Mack) Edwards is originally from Chicago Ill. He has been playing drums for over 40 years.
In High School, he played trombone and drums for the Austin High School Jazz Band.
Moving on to College he was the drummer for the Northern Illinois University Black choir and was the drummer and percussionist for their first Album entitled “In Times like These”. There he also co-founded the group named “Something for the Head”. This was a 6 piece group specializing in R&B and Funk. This band opened up for KC & the Sunshine band at Iowa State University in 1975.
Trained as a Jazz drummer by his dad, McKeaver Sr., he has played with many top local performers in the Chicago land area. Some of those performers were:
Steve Edwards Orchestra
Morris Ellis Orchestra
Eddie Harris Orchestra.
Steve Flowers Sextet
With the Steve Flowers Sextet they opened in Gary Indiana for National recording artist Regina Belle and Roy Ayers.
McKeaver has formed his own band named “Desired Effect” during the 80’s and 90’s. The band was originally a wedding band that turned into one of the most sought after bands in Chicago. Local clubs played in were “The Jazz Oasis”, “Bop Shop”, “Isaac Hayes Restaurant”, and “Dikta’s”. Locally I have performed at Hairstons,Café 290, Club Topaz and Teddy’s Live, Ritz Carleton.
