The Jimmy Williams Band

“Sweet” Jimmy Williams is the singer-songwriter-guitarist of the band. His emotionally charged guitar licks have earned him the nickname "sweet" bestowed upon him by members of the Elvin Bishop Band, with whom he played. Jimmy has been playing the guitar since he was a wee child often skipping school to divulge in the sounds of rock and roll. Influenced by every great guitar player to grace the radio waves of his youth, he devoted many years and countless hours of working out solos, improvising with other musicians and developing his own style. One can see the way he draws the crowd in with his lightning quick stream-of-consciousness playing, leaving many would be players shaking their heads in disbelief. No wonder it's called "The Jimmy Williams Band".
Mike “Machine” Gunn joined the band in 1995. Jimmy and Drew call him the Machine Gunn. With powerful force and meaning behind each percussive attack, one can see why he fits so well in this rocking band. Mike has an almost unbelievable appreciation for many types of music. He especially loves the technical players like Carter Beauford of Dave Matthews, Bill Bruford of Yes, Barriemore Barlow of Jethro Tull, etc. Make no mistake, Mike, while a technically great drummer (he actually practices), lays down a solid crunch, which keeps the people dancing, and the band rocking.
“Mountain” Drew Young provides the powerful and solid low-end support to Jimmy’s pyrotechnic guitar technique and has been playing around the Sacramento area since the mid 1990’s. Drew has been involved in several projects over the years, including the alt-rock band Nectar and the Sound and Vision Collective, a group of musicians and artists who played with a jam band-oriented style. Drew knew drummer Mike from his Nectar days and was glad to get the call to play for JWB when the bass player slot opened. Drew and Mike provide the tight and powerful rhythm section for Jimmy that is needed in a power trio lineup.
