The Pozz

Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Trumpet, Saxophone, Background Singer.

I am currently seeking other musicians for starter projects. Being able to travel is required.
Ability to read a basic lead sheet is required.
Communication at the current digital level is required.
Will train the right musician if not meeting the above requirements.

I am looking for musicians to complete cover bands. Total commitment is not needed, but the more you can do, the more you will perform. Although I can play a few instruments, I need to find a good pool of the following:

Bass: ideal is the session-type bass player such as Stax, Sun, Motown, Swamper, etc. Solid all-around player with great time.

Drums: Good time and tasteful fills are ideal. Able to change it up, whether funk, groove, swing, latin, dirty soul.

Guitar: Ideal is a solid lead without going over the top at the wrong time. Classic sound and look also ideal.

Horns: Ideal has an ear for harmonizing with other horns. If you can handle arrangements, great. Soloing a plus.

Vocalists: with an instrument, always good. Be able to perform lead or background.

If you know Dead or JGB, I would especially love to talk to you.

I simply know what I want. And what I want is musicians who can get it down and get it done. I'm easy on the other stuff as long as that happens. I'm not a hard guy, and good to work with. Respect is key in all I do. I hope to hear from you all.

Level of commitment:
Very Committed
Years playing music:
Gigs played:
Over 100
Tend to practice:
2-3 times per week

6-7 nights a week
Most available:

Hammond: Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, Billy Preston, Ruben Wilson, John Medeski, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Steve Winwood, Greg Allman, Chester Thompson, Booker T & MGs, and so mony more. If it's organ, I'll like it! Think Memphis-style, Stax, Blue Note, West-coast funk combination.
Bass: any jazz player or west coast funk style.
Guitar: from Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Muddy Waters, Karkonen, John Lee Hooker, Taj Mahal, and so on.

I would hope you get the impression that I am a "roots" player despite my age. While others were into Van Halen, I was into 1950s folk and blues. From there I have worked a huge repertoire of classic blues, R&B, classic rock, folk, jazz, funk, and soul music. I am more into good music than genres, more performance than fame, more quality than quantity.
