Scott has collaborated with Steve Earle, Sam Bush, Emmylou Harris, John Cowan, Verlon Thompson, Guy Clark, Tim O'Brien, Kate Rusby, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and many others.

The Dixie Chicks’ recording of “Long Time Gone” from Real Time was not only a hit for the Chicks but garnered a 2003 Grammy nomination for “Best Country Song.” “The Second Mouse,” a Scott/O’Brien tune from Real Time, was a Grammy finalist as “Best Country Instrumental Performance” in 2001. That same year, Darrell was named Songwriter of the Year by the Nashville Songwriters Association International, an honor repeated by ASCAP in 2002. Tickets are $15.00. 9pm.

Guitarist and vocalist Coco Montoya's explosive guitar playing and soul-driven voice have propelled him to the upper reaches of the blues-rock world. From his early days as a drummer to his current status as one of the top-drawing guitarists and vocalists on the blues-rock scene, Montoya has forged his reputation through years of hard work and constant touring.

It all started with a chance meeting in the mid-1970s with legendary bluesman Albert Collins, who offered Montoya a gig as his drummer. Albert took an immediate liking to Montoya, becoming his mentor and teaching his new protégé secrets of the Collins "icy hot" style of blues guitar.

Five years later, John Mayall happened to catch Montoya at a jam session and was blown away. This led to Montoya's touring the world for ten years with the legendary Bluesbreakers. Since stepping out as a bandleader in 1993, Montoya has released four solo albums and has performed non-stop at clubs, concert halls and major festivals all over the world. Don't miss seeing him live in Cleveland! Tickets are $15.00. 9pm.

After decades of leading the amazing blues rock band Savoy Brown, Kim Simmonds began his solo acoustic career in 1997 with the release of the CD, “Solitaire”. An album of traditional blues, “Solitaire” was the starting point of Kim’s rediscovery of his love of the acoustic guitar. In the truest sense of the word, “Solitaire” was a true solo album and an encouraging beginning for Kim and a fine addition to the acoustic music world.

Kim's newest 2008 release, "Out Of The Blue", is a collection of varied material that places him in a new setting, that of the singer / songwriter. This time around the guitar playing is understated with more emphasis on the song. His baritone voice has aged well, matured perhaps and now stands out throughout the CD's eleven songs. A "bare bones" recording with just the occasional background vocal, percussion and string section, "Out Of The Blue" displays Simmonds' wider musical range that will act as a perfect introduction for first time listeners.

About this new tour, Kim says "I'm looking forward to gigging out and playing some of the new songs. I won't have a full solo schedule but it's intended for me to work that way at the beginning parts of the months next year with band dates after that. The guitar I use on live shows is the same guitar I used on the new CD...a Gibson 'Blues King Electro..." This is your chance to check out this legendary player in an intimate solo, acoustic show. Tickets are $15.00. 9pm.

This blues, rock guitarist's bio begs the question... Is Trout's music too blues for rock - or too rock for blues? -- to label Walter Trout’s music is to limit it. With more than 35 years of touring and recording under his belt, this New Jersey native has been "loved and hated, accused and vindicated, packaged and presented for everyone to see."

In L.A., Trout developed into an ace sideman playing with Finis Tasby, Pee Wee Crayton, Lowell Fulsom, and Percy Mayfield. Trout often teamed with Hammond B3 wizard Deacon Jones and his apprenticeship continued in the bands of John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thorton and Joe Tex. By 1981, Trout’s reputation led to the invitation to join venerable blues rock band Canned Heat, where he remained through 1984. When the call came to join the legendary John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Trout jumped and found himself sharing the spotlight with fellow guitarist Coco Montoya. Trout and Montoya lifted the band to a new level, as Mayall’s Bluesbreakers enjoyed unprecedented album sales and high profile tours in the US and abroad.

Embarking upon a solo career in 1989 resulted in extensive European touring for Trout, alongside eight albums (with over 500,000 copies sold to date) and several radio hits. Walter Trout is currently touring North America and Europe in support of his 2008 Album, "The Outsider." Tickets are $20.00. 9pm.

The Nightmare - Alice Cooper Tribute,
The Nightmare is a N.E. Ohio Alice Cooper tribute band. Is there anymore to say? $10.00. 8:30pm.

Peter Hammill was born in London in 1948. His career began as the singer and songwriter for Van der Graaf Generator, the chaotic, scary and highly influential underground group of the Seventies. The adventurous attitude which they brought to their music remains a feature of Peter's work to this day.

By the time the group folded in 1978 Peter had already recorded seven solo albums, covering numerous lyrical and musical bases in the process. If one did not know otherwise the proto-punk of "Nadir's Big Chance", the full-blown emotion of "Over" and the scatter-gun arrangements of "The Silent Corner" could well have been the work of three entirely different artists.

Peter's work has always been independent and uncompromising and it is perhaps because of this that he has been cited as a major influence by so many other artists. In their respective contexts he is as happy working with pure sonics as he is with fully orchestral songs, with three-chord electric guitar "tricks" as with piano ballads.

In addition to his "normal" output of twenty-six solo recordings of songs he has also written music for ballet, film and television. He continues to subscribe to the idea that it is more important to apply literacy, intelligence and passion to the making of music than to chase after commercial success. Tickets are $20.00. 9pm.

Mojo Risin' Doors Tribute Band
Good band, lots of fans, fun night. Mojo Risin are Doors purists and use only vintage equipment on stage to capture that unique Doors sound.

What really sets them apart from the other bands is that they re-create a Doors concert as it may have looked and sounded live in 1969, rather than just imitate The Doors as they sounded in the studio. $5.00, 9pm.

Monte Montgomery is a triple threat, not merely a soulful singer and accomplished songwriter, but a true virtuoso on his beat-up electrified acoustic guitar. Winner of the Best Acoustic Guitarist award in the Austin Music Awards seven years straight (1998-2004), Monte was voted as one of the 50 Greatest Guitarists of all time by Guitar Player Magazine in 2004.

His unique brand of aggressive pop-rock takes listeners by surprise, and people watching his energetic live performances for the first time have been known to say, "Who is this guy, and why haven't I heard of him before?" In fact, Monte's first big break big break came in 1999 with his electrifying appearance on Austin City Limits. Tickets are $10.00. 9pm.

Steve is currently promoting his first new album in three years, Strange Names & New Sensations, which includes an all-new recording of his Top 40 hit, "Romeo's Tune". He has carved out a unique position as one of music's most ardent and active traveling troubadours of our time. Steve is a legendary folk musician who has been nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Folk Album" Category. Tickets are $12.00 9pm.

Kelly is a Cincinatti native and brings her three piece blues band up for a scream every now and then. Her guitar playing has been compared to (hats off, please) Stevie Ray Vaughan and her singing to Janis Joplin. Wow. She is as firey a guitar player as Chris Duarte. She'll wear you out! The Deja Voodoo Band opens the show! $12.00. 9pm.

Freekbass has collaborated with funk legend, Bootsy Collins, for several projects, the most recent being Freekbass', The Air Is Fresher Underground, released in late October, 2003.

This is Freekbass' second album to be executive produced by Bootsy, the first being Body Over Mind, Gemini/Bootzilla, 2001. This Cincinnati native brings his funk groove & crazy costumes back to The Winchester, so put on your dancin' shoes! 9pm. $10.00.

Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley performs music that redefines the word "eclectic." Lindley, well known for his many years as the featured accompanist with Jackson Browne, and leader of his own band El Rayo-X, has long championed the concept of world music.

The David Lindley electro-acoustic performance effortlessly combines American folk, blues, and bluegrass traditions with elements from African, Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy, and Turkish musical sources. Lindley incorporates an incredible array of stringed instruments including but not limited to Kona and Weissenborn Hawaiian lap steel guitar, Turkish saz and chumbus, Middle Eastern oud, and Irish bouzouki. The eye-poppingly clad "Mr. Dave's" uncanny vocal mimicry and demented sense of humor make his onstage banter a highlight of the show. Tickets are $12.00. 9pm.

Stratospheerius
Stratospheerius is the bastard child of Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Dave Matthews, and Blues Traveler. "Fleshing out the Stratospheerius sound are: Out-of-this-world strings, sultry guitar, rumbling basslines, frantic drumming, and celebratoryvocals that enunciate lyrical outlines of life. The songs are gripping and energetic. Insistent melodies are made
compelling by the violin passion. Fevered solos are cradled between lyrical passages that tremble with breakout rock stamina. A Bayou flavor lurks in several tracks, creating a strange fusion of bluesy funk and progressive tendencies. The result is goodtime music that will get you dancing."
-Matt Howarth (Soniccuriosity.com) 9pm.

"Behind the humor lurks a musical master."
Sydney Morning Herald (Australia)

JORMA KAUKONEN RECORDS BOOK BINDER SONG ON LATEST ALBUM... "STARS IN MY CROWN"

"Nobody writes in the idiom better than Roy Book Binder. He is a master player, singer, writer and teller of tales… true tales. He wrote THE PREACHER PICKED THE GUITAR and passed it on to me. It is an honor to include it here." Jorma Kaukonen 2/16/07

"Book Binder is one of the finest blues finger pickers active today."
- Blues Review Magazine.

ROY BOOK BINDER, is a Blues Singing, guitar picking, song writing raconteur, and has been for the past 30 years! Roy has been interviewed by Terry Gross on NPR's Fresh Air, featured on the Emmy award winning segment of the PBS TV series EGG Art in America, and appeared more than 30 times on Ralph Emory's highly regarded TV series Nashville Now.

Book Binder has been included in THE BIG BOOK OF BLUES, as well as THE BLUES WHO'S WHO!! Roy has been continually touring across America in his tour bus, which has been his home for the last thirty years, as well as performing internationally.

Back in the early 1960s, Roy learned his craft from the legendary blind street singer, Reverend Gary Davis, who was thrust into the national spotlight when Peter, Paul, and Mary recorded his song "If I Had My Way." After two years of traveling the folk-blues circuit with his mentor, Roy struck out on his own. Along the way, he befriended Pink Anderson, an old Carolina medicine show performer (who by the way was the "Pink" in Pink Floyd, while Floyd Council, another Carolina bluesman, was the Floyd.) Pink's stories and songs will forever be kept alive as long as Roy has a stage to perform on...

Roy has toured with Bonnie Raitt, Hot Tuna, and J.J. Cale. He has been invited to many festivals including: The National StoryTelling Festival, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the Chicago Blues Festival, and MerleFest where he has hosted the acoustic blues stage for the past twelve years. The League of Proper Musicians is a group of deciduous troubadours hailing from everywhere. They are releasing their FIRST CD EVER here at The Winchester.

All members of the group are adept at arranging notes into both written and improvised patterns. Members of the League take an oath upon joining the group. First, all music will be fabricated in an attempt to move people's mind, body, and/or soul. Second, no one in the group will get an Emo haircut. Third, and most important, it's sexy time all the time (there have been rumors of children actually being conceived at League concerts.)

What results is a blend of Funk, Fusion, Latin, and Progressive music that sets the League apart from their peers while keeping them accessible to both the average music fan as well as schooled musicians. Tickets are $10.00 and include a copy of their CD. 9pm.

Anthony Gomes, the award winning, acclaimed tough-rockin' soulful singer-guitarist and his rough ‘n’ tumble Nashville-based outfit, are taking on the world.

Drawing on the musical core that links blues, rock, soul and country, he’s joined by the New Soul Cowboys, featuring bassist David Karns, drummer Peter Lang and keyboardist Dylan St. John.

“First and foremost, we are Southern Rock,” Gomes says. “We mine rock, blues, country and gospel in our soul sonic force.” The bands' scorch and riot sound is definitely right in line with the best of Southern Rock past and today's rockin' country. In fact, a Soul Cowboy alumnus is none other than that Redneck Woman herself Gretchen Wilson, right out of the Nashville “Music Mafia.” Tickets are $15.00. 9pm.

"He's not a blues guitarist, although he sometimes bends stinging notes like B.B. King. Nor is he a jazz guitarist, although there are elements of Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell in his music. And Johnny A. is certainly not a pure rock guitarist a la Eddie Van Halen or Steve Vai.

"What dictates what I do," he says, "is the song that I'm playing.' " Johnny A. has been in Peter Wolf (from J.Giels) Band and toured with Peter Frampton as well. This instrumental virtuoso and his band bring their sultry sounds back to the Winchester for the second time. $12.00. Pete Cavano opens at 9pm.

One Under -
With members coming from ekoostik Hookah, The Shantee and The Ark, the band members of One Under sound jubilant to be out of their previous situations and making music together. The lyrics of “Joyful Days Ahead” may reference a blissful romantic getaway, but it also elicits an aura of positivity at a time when it’s not that difficult to wake up, see a preview of the day's events on TV, and erupt in a foul mood. Of course, the spirit of the song easily describes the mindset of the band. Hippie Jams from Columbus at their best. Local act NEWPORT opens. $10.00. 9pm.
