ABOUT

Hey guys, I'm looking to form a primarily (but not exclusive to) 80s cover band. Stuff like Billy Idol, Talking Heads, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Lou Reed, Ramones. Stuff that is sure fire money and loads of fun.

I play lead/rhythm guitar and have a lower pitched david byrnesque voice. I want to try to accent on stage energy and personality primarily. Something memoriable and slightly eccentric (no clown suits or dresses or anything but...)

Example of an ideal setlist: "Rocks Off" (rolling stones) into "Dancing With Myself" into "Jessica" into "I Zimbra" (talking heads) into "Safety Dance" into "Walk on the Wild Side" into "I wanna be Sedated" and so on and so forth. (of course a couple of not smash hits - "Chocolate Jesus" (Tom Waits), "Mr. Tough" (Yo La Tengo). But idealistically everything should be based on how fun it is to hear or play. I'm not really interested in how clever or virtuoso it is, right now anyways. I want to work our way with a core setlist to bringing some more instrumental stuff into as well (one of these days I'll sit down and figure out how to play YYZ by RUSH for example)

Because of the limitations of my vocal range I'd love to split lead singing duties with someone to be able to expand our material. Someone who could possibly sing Journey or Yes...

Right now I'm looking for a Bass Guitar and a Keyboardist (very crucial) to start getting tight with and I know a saxophone player who can hop in down the line after we've got arrangements and whatnot down. I have a drummer already in mind, but I'm still keeping an eye out considering he is busy a lot of the time playing gigs with other projects.
