ABOUT

My vision is very specific. I've been in other bands and played other people's music; I'm bored with that. I want to be in a band where I'm not just auditioning and joining. I want to piece this band together with only the absolute right people; I've already met tons of musicians and I am willing to search super extensively for the right person. Look and attitude are obvious pre-cursers, but an open mind is very important as well.

In the end, though, it all starts with the songsā€¦.if the songs suck, nothing else will matter.

That's why I want to start with myself and a guitar player. Together, I believe we can create a catalog to build the band around. I can play a little guitar and I have a bunch of song ideas that I'm ready to bring to the table, a huge stack of riffs if you will. Maybe a few of them have come together completely, but for the most part, I need you, MR. or MRS. GUITAR PLAYER, to turn these riffs into full songs.

Now, I'm not a control freak. I swear I'm not. It's not just about me and my riffs; it's about us and our riffs. It's just as important that you bring ideas to the table. I need someone who is creative musically.

Now, a couple of other notes: I have my own bass and cab and I'm ready to play any time. I have 2 guitars I use for songwriting, a cheap 8 track digi recorder I use for demo's and a drum machine that I use to write the drum tracks (I'm good on the theory stuff).

Also, a good friend of mine has a mid-range home studio that is basically at our disposal. He and I have talked in great detail about this band and the songs I have in mind and he has promised to help with production and mastering far cheaper than most high end studios.

I have a big house on the west side and we use the front part of the house for our creative ventures. We have plenty of space for rehearsing, jamming, or whatever else.

What I would ultimately like to see happen is we write and record, then audition people once we move into the mastering phase. To many times, I've been in full band writing mode, and, don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to that, but the time it takes to write in band mode is considerable; if we wrote & recorded the album before hand, then recruited players, we have more time for rehearsing and promoting.

This is very important to me. If what I've talked about isn't for you, please don't waste anymore time moving on. I will not waste your time, please don't waste mine. I'm playing either guitar or bass everyday; if you can't match that, then this isn't the band for you.

I'm looking to get to work right away. Of course, I understand the importance of chemistry and I realize that it might take some time for a groove to establish, but that always works out. This is not something I want to drag out. I want to hit the ground running.

Please consider one final thing: I can not match the experience and levels of success of some other players/bands on the market. I'm young and raw in the sense that I have very little experience. I've been in a couple of bands and played a hand full of live shows. However, please consider: I am not a young, wild, immature kid. I've put in the time and I'm a sound musician and I can learn anything I haven't already.

Michael.

Influences

My love for music is what drives me to play everyday. When I strum the guitar, I feel like nothing else. Growing up, my musical influences came from many different directions. From my father, a love for old, classic, twangy, country: Don Williams, Patsy Cline, George Strait, and Randy Travis. My mother, perhaps a bit of his opposite, brought me respect and a love for the likes of Neil Diamond, Peter Paul & Mary, Elvis, Jim Croce, and Simon & Garfunkel. More considerably, my 5 older sisters, all listening to different sounds, all at different levels of the generational ladder. On any given day, one could be schooled in the history of past 30 years of American pop culture, taught by the likes of George Michael, U2, Phil Collins, Madonna, Prince, Journey, Cheap Trick, and Boy George. Of course, I was a teen, too, and I found my own likes and dislikes. My rock ears were trained on the likes of Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic, Motley Crue's Shout at the Devil, and Ozzy's Bark at the Moon. In later years, I discovered other great records: Faith No More's Angel Dust, Space Hog's The Chinese Album, and Tonic's Lemon Parade. That love for music led me to pick up my first instrument, a bass, about 15 years ago. I love playing bass and have worked hard to become a sound musician and good improvisational player
