We have recently moved from CA and are putting together our
World Folk Ensemble. The music is original and uplifting with the intention of making the world a happier place. We have 3 CDs, one of which was inspired by 14th century mystic sufi poet Hafiz.
We are looking for a cello player (multi-instrumentalist a bonus but mainly someone with a rich tone and a good ear who can improvise.) We are also looking for a percussion player/drummer who can play both middle eastern/Persian rhythms and straight ahead innovative Americana. A tabla player would be a bonus.

The first verse in inspired by the Hafiz Poem Dropping Keys from Daniel Ladinsky's book of Hafiz poems called The Gift. This song demonstrates the sound we are capable of achieving with the feeling we want to convey.

This is anothersong whose first verse is inspired by the sufi poetry of Hafiz. This is a good example of the role the cello plays in the music.

This is our version of an old Yiddish song and shows our cultural diversity, sense of humor and liveliness. The repeated word Mishbukah means 'family'.

This is the other end of the spectrum and is more straight ahead with a folk pop flavor but still thematically similar to Dropping Keys. The intent is the same. The World Folk Ensemble will bridge these two styles cohesively.
