ABOUT

The Press is a jazz influenced neo-soul, R&B and hip-hop group with a trio of MC’s supported by keyboards, lead guitar, bass and drums. The music ranges from smooth R&B to spitfire lyrical anthems consciously crafted with a focused message. With a strong background in jazz improvisation and performance, The Press has created a reputation as quick-witted, high-energy instrumentalists. Live shows are filled with an intense and enthralling force that compels entire audiences out of their seats and onto the dance floor. In light of overwhelming success and support, a championship victory in Boston’s prestigious Rack Battle of the Bands and upcoming shows throughout New England, The Press has established itself as a next level band and is setting its sights on venues all over the east coast. The Press originated in Portsmouth, NH in early 2005. The band performs a number of originals, four of which were recently recorded as an EP at Wolf Den Studio in Worcester, Ma. In addition, they perform a wide variety of covers ranging from The Roots and Guru to Common and Talib Kweli. The Press’s lead vocalists, Brian Capobianchi, Patrick Joyce, and Alex Beguin, offer unique perspectives through rhythmically diverse, tongue twisting, philosophically rich expression; their thought provoking lines are backed by the hardest grooving assembly of musicians around. Members include Jay Trikakis on drums, Dan Shure on keyboards, Jim Dozet on guitars, and Roland Nicol on bass.
