ABOUT

Hi - I'm a female drummer, preferably looking to play with other female musicians or a mixed group (no offense dudes, I've just played with a whole lotta dudes). I've been playing for several years, and I'm a pretty minimal, hard hitting, weirdo primal drummer. I still study and like expanding my monkey repertoire, but I'm also looking for people who are into playing heavy weird music that's interesting, funny, rocks the hell out of people, and aren't hung up on trying to fit into any Pitchfork marketable genres. Drummers I love : Palmolive, Steve Reid, Marvin Gaye (yes, he was a session drummer, and the drum arrangements on his albums were the sh*t), Angela Gerend from Gay Beast.

I don't care whether we play fast metal-y sh*t or slow drone-y SunnO)))) stuff. I'm cool with a psych rock element, and open to ideas as long as they're not clearly copping another band.

This is the project I'm in now - Glass Lamborghini - ://glasslambs./album/golden-elegance. I'm still going to work with this project, and I like it, but I need more of everything I just listed above. I have a few more recent demos that show a heavy playing style, just ask.

What I don't want: A vocalist who wants to sing all the goddamn time. I'm not against vocals, at all, but I don't want to be the backup to a singer songwriter. I want to be a band, and I want instrumentation to come first, not shaping songs to fit someone's lyrics (at least all the time. And no offense songwriters. I realize a lot of people work this way and that's fine, I just want to do something else).

IN ADDITION: I also make short films and make DVDs that my bands have played with for live performances. Themes have included - medical illustrations made into flipbook stop motion, making a series of people dance and cry simultaneously, exercise and karate instruction manuals made into stop motion. It's fun, I like to do it, and would keep doing it if the people I was playing with liked that.
