I am 62, retired, financially secure, with a family and a life outside of my music. Even though the little bit of compensation received from playing is nice, it sure isn't my goal to make a living. I have been playing drums on and off for over 40 years. I returned playing for recreation and enjoyment when I retired in 2008. I don’t consider myself a pro and I never will, Steve Gadd, John Bonham and Danny Seraphine are Pros. I have put together and played in 2 gigging bands in the past 6 years. I walked away from both because a of band mate having the mind set and ego “I am too good for this ". I rather not play with those with egos, thinking they are rock stars and require everyone in the band to be too. I would like to play music people recognize and enjoy. To me if the majority of the crowds don’t immediately start lip syncing and dancing in place to the song, it should not be played. We all have our own tastes in music and that is respected. But our own personal tastes belong on our iPod and not on the set list. I am interested in playing simple, rocking hits from of the 60s to today, rock, country, funk and top 40. My influences in the below list is the music I grew up too and like, but I am very open to playing other great dance tunes. I am completely drug and issue free. I have all excellent equipment (both acoustic and electric), transportation PA and a place to practice. I am looking for the right situation to become committed and in for the long term. Where I am not only a band mate, but friends outside of the band. productive
