ABOUT

Had my eyes glued on drums since the age of 10. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of gigging with artists such as Richard Smallwood, Donald Lawrence, DeAndre Patterson, Chicago Mass Choir, Nu City Mass Choir, Mark Hubbard, The Urban Funk Ordinance. My influences are: Will Kennedy, Khari Parker, Dennis Chambers, Frank Briggs, C-Rod, Vinnie, Steve Jordan, Quest love, and Aaron Spears. My musical inspiration comes from anywhere and anything. That means, I don’t have a limit to my listening pleasure. For example, my ipod contains: Dave Matthews, Metallica, Rod stewart, Bilal, Chick Korea, Bobby McFerrin, Jackets, Adam Nitti, Cyrus Chestnut, Breaker Brothers, John McLaughlin(Live in Paris album was hot), Al Green, Dwele, Eric Roberson, Tenacious D, Frank Zappa, Rev Clay Evans(This man voice is hilarious), Michelle NdGeo, phish, Steele Pulse, Prince, I mean I can keep Going! LOL Over the years, I got a pleasure from wowing crowds with the experience of working out with friends, getting into as many guitar center drum-offs as possible. That let me know what and who is out there. And how to stay on my toes to come back with something. When its time for you to solo at a gig, you can come wit it! The more I play, the more I understand how this game goes. We start young, limber, and full of energy, and yet thirsty for chops. You get the chops, and immediately your ego stands on its toes. The challenge at this point, is to fit all of these licks in your playing. Do a couple of gigs and realize that you can’t play all the licks you know. The final challenge is, evolving into a musician. I feel like I’ve reached that level, nevertheless, being an adult, limits your practice time. Which depreciates the value of your craft. As for me, I had to lay my drums down, for almost a year, to learn a trade, due to growth in my family. Outcome: my wife and kids are taken care of, and I’m not gigging as much. This is the only thing that separates me from the working musicians (the time invested in my craft). So, as of now, I putting my foot back on the track I’ve stepped away from, and easin back into the groove of things. I’m mostly doing more smooth jazz than anything, and studio sessions than anything. So, as my schedule fattens, you guys have my word that I will keep you posted on the performances. Till then, God Bless you all for visiting my page.
