ABOUT

Bassist/Vocalist that has played pretty much all genres but predominantly in Country, Folk, R&B and Classic R&R. Years ago while I was still living and playing in Seattle I was hired by producer Norman Ratner to provide bass and background vocals on his album project with Eddie Preston. Eddie was an original member of the Cascades known for their hit single, "Rhythm of the Rain." The recording sessions with Norman resulted in two songs that made Billboard's Hot 100 Country in 1989 and again in 1990. Some of the recording artists that I have worked with in the past include: Nokie Edwards (The Ventures) Country artists Hank Thomson, Bob Wood, Kenny Roberts, Claudia Nygaard. Blues roots R&B artists Sam "Bluzman" Taylor (Joey Dee & The Starlighters, Sam & Dave, Joe Tex, The Isley Brothers, Otis Redding, BT Express), James Curley Cooke (Steve Miller, Boz Scaggs, Jerry Garcia, Tracy Nelson & Mother Earth), Orville Johnson (Jerry Douglas Southern Filibuster - A Tribute to Tut Taylor), Duffy Bishop (Janis & Big Brother and the Holding Company), Tomcat Courtney, King Biscuit Blues Band and producer Jeff Lane (Brass Construction, BT Express, Eddie Kendricks). I'm looking to join anything from an acoustic or semi-electric duo/trio, to whatever piece electric classic/modern country classic R&R, classic R&B band.

Influences

My major influences have been in everything from country to classical, smooth jazz, r&b, funk, folk and blues. Played professionally for many years. At a young age I studied classical bass with Tom Pedrini who was the principal bassist with the LA Philharmonic and also Ken Friedman who was the principal bassist with the Vancouver Symphony while they were both stationed at West Point Military Academy. I later took bass lessons with Charlie Chadwick while living in San Diego who has played with Suzy Bogguss, Pam Tillis , John Jorganson and Shelby Lynn. In Seattle I took voice lessons from George Peckham. My primary bass influences on electric have been Larry Graham, Joco Pastorius, Louis Johnson, Rocco Prestia, Stanley Clark and from the upright world Tom Pedrini, Ken Friedman and John Patitucci.
