I am a hobbyist singer-songwriter looking to expand my horizons. Would love to find folks to create music with, and eventually play gigs, with emphasis on original songs (yours/mine/ours). My songwriting and musical tastes tend toward folk/pop/indie with traditional song structures, emphasis on chord progression, hooks, and harmonies if I can find the right people to sing with. I am lyrically challenged (my lyrics are decent but don't come easily) and my skill level on instruments (piano/guitar) is fair but I have good instincts. I am not looking to start/join a serious studio or touring act but I would like to find others for whom music is a passionate hobby, with interest in working toward local gigs. I am open to new challenges, experiences, and genres besides those listed here but am probably not a good fit for metal, blues, or twangy rock.

I admire the songwriters of the 1970s: Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen, Carole King, Burt Bacharach
Contemporary influences: Fiona Apple, Sufjan Stevens, Aimee Mann, the Decemberists, the Shins, Rufus Wainwright, Joanna Newsom, Ryan Adams, Sharon van Etton, Jessica Pratt, also not afraid to slum it with the likes of Sia, Beyonce, Gaga, etc.
