I am a true west-coast girl! Oregon, then California, then Washington state until I moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1999. I came to the Jacksonville area in search of the sun -- true story! Anyway, I studied classical piano as a child. Although I have done some musical theatre, until recently most of my singing has been within the context of church. When my vocal coach "let me" try a blues song, even she was surprised at the depth and tone of my voice. That was my niche but I didn't get to fully express my love for the blues and rock and roll until just recently. Now I intentionally include many genres of music in my repertoire--classic/alternative/southern rock, country, latin, and, of course, the blues. My favorite artists are Amy Lee, Melissa Etheridge, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi and Etta James. When recording my CD, Broken Chains, in early 2008, I was able to include an original piece, "I Wonder." I had no idea I could write music until I just sat down with a beer and started typing and singing along. That was a very good day! My goal is to entertain with every I song! There is nothing more satisfying (okay, maybe being a mom qualifies) than grabbing the attention of individuals in the audience and entertaining them.
