ABOUT

First of all, I'd like to say I love good music!
I started learning/playing saxophone on a consistent basis back in 1990. Started on Alto back in 7th grade learning from a very talented and experienced trumpeter and educator out of Dayton, OH...thx Mr Keikwu Sutton! I moved on to Tenor as a freshman at C.W. High School for Visual and Performing Arts. So I am a "classically" trained saxophonist. But I've been playing for churches, gospel choirs, community jazz bands, and community concert bands pretty consistently for 30+ years, and in that time and through those experiences I have developed a good ear, and a lot of performance experience, and my own unique style. My Tenor is still my main ax, but I also play Alto, and I've been slowly learning the flute.

So to all of my fellow musicians out here in the STL area, I'm looking to get a new and unique kinda group going. However, I'm very busy with the family and the day job, so I'm not even trying to do this by myself. Here's a short description of what I envision: take the instrumentation set up of a classic jazz "big band" then add some old/nu soul/jazz/r&b(old and new school) musical foundations, then add a dash of gospel/hip-hop/reggae/rock/funk flava, then add some hungry/creative/talented/experienced musicians/arrangers/composers, and then take away the limits and classifications that often times confine one's talents to a specific genre, and there you have it.

Now maybe this doesn't make since to you, and that's cool...that just means I'm not talking to you. But if you are feeling this concept or maybe you even had a similar idea yourself or even if you know someone in the area that is doing (or trying to do) something like this, holla at your boy. Let's make some music, and leave the labels for the canned goods! :).

Formerly, you could usually hear me on Sunday mornings at FTMBC service...if you don't know you better ask somebody. :) Now, I’m playing with the local smooth jazz and fusion ensemble known as Wright’s Project band.
