ABOUT
My name is Troy Dawson, the humble beginning of becoming the musician i am today started when i was in the 6th grade and i heard the album "American Idiot" by Green day for the first time. Before i listened to this album i never really had my ow musical taste beyond what my dad listened to and showed me (mainly hard/classic rock). However, soon after hearing it i dove into the rest of Green days material and other associated 90's punk rock bands such as Blink 182, Sum 41, The Offspring etc. and even some punk-ska type bands such as NOFX, Sublime, Less than Jake etc. This is when i really began carving out my own musical taste and interest. I decided i really wanted to learn how to play guitar and upon hearing my newly found interest my grandpa purchased my first guitar for me and began teaching me all of the main basic chords. I then received lessons for about a year until i had learned just about ever single Green day and Blink 182 song there was to learn and then discontinued the lessons because i felt i had reached the point i wanted to be at. However a little later down the road my musical interests began expanding to bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc. more of a rock/grunge feel. This is also when i began really honing my ability to sing and play the guitar at the same time. I grew a desire to start a band and had convinced my two best friends to pick up the Bass and Drums. I took a short Hiatus from music when first attending college and my friends had moved on to a new band, after rekindling my interest in making music with a passion we attempted to reform our band but failed. All the while i have been writing more and more original material and each song i make is better then the last. I believe that my guitar/ vocal skill along with my finely tuned songwriting ability makes me a very valuable asset to a band and I am looking for a committed Drummer, Bassist, or other Guitarist/Vocalist to start a band with and to make something so amazing we will take the whole world by surprise. The house i live in has a dedicated band room that i share with my roommates and they're band in which we can use to practice in.
