Growing up in a family of musicians I was exposed to a wide variety of music from bluegrass to heavy metal.
Around the age of 8, my father started teaching me guitar, he gave me records (yes, the vinyl ones) to listen to, like Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles, ZZ Top, Steppin Wolf, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lynyrd Skynyrd, a gold mine of Motown, and so many more.
Around 12 years old I switched to drums after hearing the beats of Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, and all the bands I listed before.
In my teen years I was influenced by bands like Guns N Roses, AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and most Grunge bands.
I was a fan of Heavy Metal bands like Megadeth, Pantera, White Zombie, Metallica, Slayer, but mostly used them as an outlet, never really enjoyed playing that style.
I loved Southern Rock bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, Almann Brothers, Molly Hatchet, and so on. Not just the dual drummers found in most of these bands, but the shoe shuffling, toe tapping music that gets people up and dancing.
While in the Military I began to discover Funky Soul sounds of Sly and the Family Stone, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Tower of Power, James Brown, and so many more to list.
There is something about having a horn section in a band!! Its just a whole new level with the tight arrangements.
I enjoy and can play almost all music from 1960's to current.
Currently diggin the soulful sounds of Roxy Roca; St. Paul and The Broken Bones
