Band to Join.

Hi everyone, my name is Vanessa and I am an alt-rock/nu metal singer seeking other musicians with a passion for rocking it out. I'm originally from Miami, Florida.

I have studied, and will continue to study, music for the entire duration of my college years, and plan to pursue it as my career. I have a 3.6 octave vocal range, and three vocal coaches I have worked with have determined that I have perfect pitch. As a child, I was trained on piano and learned to read music that way. I sing in English and Spanish. I've been trained in theater and have participated in local and college productions, and have sung the national anthem for government ceremonies and sporting events (including the Winston-Salem Dash three years in a row, up to this year). I also fronted an Eighties hair metal band for two years, and while the music wasn't quite my thing, I did enjoy my time with my bandmates, as well as performing front and center on a stage.

What I am really looking for is a band or other musicians with similar styles, as well as similar goals. In this case, the main goal is to bring a hard rock vibe to the Charlotte music scene... and I would love to record. I'm presently in the process of setting up a studio space in my home and making some recordings of my own, but it'd be great to perform live gigs with other musicians like myself. I know you guys are out there... just know that I am ready for you!

All kinds. Linda Ronstadt was my first real musical influence, but Amy Lee of Evanescence has provided major guidance in who I am and who I would like to become as a singer and performer. What a beautiful voice, she does her thing. I love the occasional rock edge in Selena's otherwise smooth, soaring vocals. Freddie Mercury of Queen was a true showman, and vocally that band was the best of its time. Vocal powerhouses of the Eighties like Bonnie Tyler and Ann Wilson are always a welcome addition to my music player. I'm a child of the Nineties, and so I've always been drawn to and influenced by the music of that era: Pearl Jam, Jewel, Veruca Salt, Alanis Morissette, Nirvana, Melissa Etheridge and others... as well as bands that came onto the scene later, like Linkin Park and Panic! at the Disco. Of course, my influences are not just limited to the rock genre, as I believe in listening to and learning from vocalists in other genres, like Broadway, R&B, soul and even country.
