ABOUT

Velekete's music genre is World & Cultural African Drum / Percussion Show Entertainment as well as traditional West African percussion folk and spiritual music. In addition to traditional West African percussion folk and spiritual music, Velekete also plays jazz, R&B, Caribbean, Reggae and AfroBeat using standard band instrumentation (i.e.: traps, bass, keyboard, guitar, winds, etc.) Velekete is available for local gigs and international tours. Velekete can be hired as a solo act, a duo, trio, quartet, sextet or orchestra depending on the event needs and budget.

Members Of Band

Francesca Abbey is a percussionist originally from New York City, currently living in the Worcester, MA area. She has been playing Djembe, Djung-Djung, Mbalak, Asiko, Dono Drum, as well as timbales, congas, shekere and Balafon since the 80's. She has over 44 year's experience as a professional band leader/percussionist , 10 years experience playing percussion for an educational facility, 5 year's experience as a manager/supervisor and part owner of a night club, and over 5 year's experience as president CEO/owner of an artist management and booking agency.
