Bass Guitar.ABOUT
Hey there! We're Violet Dive, an up and coming indie rock band based in the Houston area.
Due to life circumstances, our previous bassist is moving to Washington, DC and we're now on the lookout for a new member. We are about to begin recording our first album, after which point we will begin playing shows. Our current members are all 30+ years old, extremely laid-back, dedicated to our craft, level-headed, and drama-free. We expect the same from anyone interested in joining the band: no egos, no drama. We don't take ourselves too seriously, but we do take the music seriously.
We are looking for our new bassist to meet the following criteria:
• Proficient on the bass guitar
• Owns their own equipment (bass, bass amp, pedals, etc.)
• Understands the balance between skill expression and taste (i.e. knowing when to sit in the pocket and knowing when to let loose)
• A good ear for key recognition and knowing what a song needs
• Comfortable in a free-form/improvisational songwriting environment
• At least a basic understanding of music theory preferred (e.g. scales, Nashville number system, chord construction, etc.)
• Able to play to a metronome
• Stable income and able to contribute to rent for our practice space (~$65/month)
• Committed to practicing once a week, typically Mondays from 7:30pm to 10:30pm (practice space is located in the Bellaire area)
• Live show experience and comfortable performing on stage with energy and passion
• Team player who always keeps the best interests of the band in mind
• Mature, reliable, and good communicator
• Career-minded regarding music
• Business-minded (or at least willing to respect the business side of music that's required to succeed in this industry)
• Open to establishing a "look" that captures the style and image of the band
• Willing to relocate out of Texas in the future (within 2-3 years, likely to Denver, CO or somewhere along the East Coast)
• Progressive social views (racism and/or anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric won't fly with us)
Anyone interested in auditioning can reach out to us here on Bandmix, email us at violetdivemusic at Google Mail, or text Tyler at 281-979-0673 (just let me know you're from Bandmix).
