Sub Pop, the grunge record label founded by Bruce Pavitt and Jon Poneman helped to spur the grunge rock movement. Sub Pop signed bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Mudhoney. Jazz, rap, and symphony music are all extremely popular in the Northwest. Kenny G., Bill Frisell, and Wayne Horvitz are all notable musicians from Seattle.
Seattle’s Ballard district is a popular area filled with clubs, shops, restaurants, boutiques and pubs.
