a couple of years ago a coworker invited me to play drums with a group of musicians in a small band after work. I had no experience with drums, but I was willing to learn. We ended up playing together for a couple of years, during which time I took lessons and practiced regularly. We even had the opportunity to play at the company holiday party in front of about 4000 people. Nowadays those folks work at different companies and I miss playing music with others.
I am not claiming to be good; however, I love to play, and I believe that I improve daily as I practice.
