ABOUT

Hello!
My Names Whiskey Graves, or by birth name Devon Graves. I got my first electric guitar when I was about 13 years old. My mother bought it for me with a gig bag and a little 10 watt amp. I messed around on it and learned some chords here and there. then my neighbor showed me how to make a power chord and my days of youthful angst started. my buddy was a drummer and a good one at that so we started jamming together playing sh*tty punk rock songs that we wrote in 45 seconds lol but they were the anthems to our days. when I was about 14 or 15 I bought my first acoustic guitar from Kmart best piece of junk I ever owned. after that I rarely picked my electric back up. I was stuck in the sounds of the acoustics. the way the strings vibrated through the wood and came out in (semi) beautiful chords. ever since, I've been writing acoustic songs, a wide range of styles from pop-ish acoustic to blues, folk, and indie. I played at a few shows around my old town in PA but never did to much more, around 17 i dropped outta school and started dating a rocker chick from up the mountain, long story short. She completely tore me down about my music and never enjoyed me playing around her, was never... the right lines, or the right genre. after our departure from each other I put the instruments down... for awhile. I'd play every once in a blue moon and for about 3 songs before i'd feel like I'm making everyone's ears bleed and ruining everybody's time. after some time and some encouragement from friends and family i started playing and writing again and here I am years later still writing still playing, still singing and learning new songs. my confidence has come back , still a little shy, but when i let go, I and everyone around me is satisfied with the outcome and the coolest thing I've learned is that my songs are catchy and I'll hear people humming or whistling it a week later. brings a smile to my face and almost tears to my eyes. so that's me in a nutshell. contact me and we can jam maybe? and if not, support your local scene and hope you enjoy my tunes.
