Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar.

ABOUT

I'm the founder and band leader of a new rock project. We're looking a second guitarist with lead chops and bass player. We currently have a free, secure practice space in St. Paul.

We spent 2023 putting together what we ended up calling Black Starling Revue, recorded demo tracks, and got out for one gig at the Terminal Bar, then our bass player disappeared in late November. Shortly thereafter, two other members felt they didn't have time or space for the band. At this point, the drummer and I are looking to build something new.

The project has a little twist. Rather than having one lead singer, we're creating a band that supports invited guest vocalists. The goal is to become a fun Gen X house band that provides an outlet for talented, vetted and experienced singers, doing '60s-'00s hard rock covers and some originals.

We're looking for seasoned players, ideally with stage experience, ages 40-55. You should be comfortable playing a range of styles including blues, blues rock, rockabilly, funk, punk, hard rock, some metal, and maybe even rockabilly, so bring some chops!

Though singing is not required, I will be leaning toward players who can sing harmonies and possibly leads depending on the tune. We'd like our band to be able to stand on its own to some extent, not just be a backing band.

You must be gainfully employed, have no legal trouble, no substance abuse issues, reliable housing and transportation, and fully-functional, self-maintained gear.

This is a passion project, the goal of which is to build a roster of singers and a community of audience members. We have some interested parties, but now that we're starting over, the focus, once again is to build a committed, cohesive band.

If you're looking for a working band with gigs lined up and ready to go, that's not us. Join us because you're excited to play hard, loud rock music with like-minded people, and be a part of developing something interesting. Playing live is the purpose of the project, and we won't play for free, but this thing is about fun above all. We want to play, and we ain't done yet!

I'll be reaching out to people who seem like they might be the right fit, but feel free to email me at adamwhisner at my G mail account.

Though we will be renaming the band and changing things up, take a look at what we built in 2023 as Black Starling Revue at blackstarlingrevue. com
