Hey! My name is James but my stage name is ‘yuh homegurl’! I’m a singer-songwriter, rapper, and poet from Carson, CA. I’m looking for an acoustic/percussive guitarist, or even a beat boxer, who can create instrumentals for some songs I’ve already written and who I can make new music with as well! I’ve been singing and writing songs since the age of 8. I’m currently 24. About 2 years ago I started rapping. Ever since then I’ve been diligently working on improving my rhymes, rap style, lyrical content, flow, and delivery. I’m now adamantly trying to make my dream of becoming a full-time artist a reality. Throughout my journey with music I’ve found my artistic identity. I’m an artist whose music centers around love and love sickness, capitalism, queerness, blackness and its intersection with queerness, critique of American society, introspection, vulnerability, and raw, unadulterated emotion. My stage name, ‘yuh homegurl,’ represents a lot for me but mainly my desire to intimately connect with people through music. I want to create music that deeply resonates with people. I want to create music that feels like conversations with your best friend. I have an intense passion for music creation and making soundtracks to life. I’m looking for someone who feels the same and who’d like to join me on this journey of soulful and soul-baring self-expression.
