Lead singer and lead guitar from established cover band looking to put together a new group for a wider variety of music with a twist. The focus will be on playing FUN music, entertaining, and having a great time doing it. Super serious rockstar types need not apply.

Song selection will be a wide range from 70's funk/disco, 80's, 90's, 2000's, classic rap/hiphop, current top 40 pop/rap/etc, r&b/soul, reggae, etc. Basically as wide a range as possible with the best musicians available to rock the house, get people dancing, give them something to bang their head to, and occasionally let them sit down and wave lighters in the air if that's their thing. This is designed to be FUN and ENERGETIC, no shoe-gazing allowed (at least not onstage). Generally speaking, we want solid musicians that can preferably sing if asked to. Vocal harmonies are a must! Ideally everyone gets a couple of songs to lead on throughout the night. Everyone has fun, everyone goes home happy.

Band decisions as democratic as possible, everyone brings in the music that they love to play and we compromise to create the best show possible.

We are looking for the following instruments to round out the lineup :

Bass - funky! funky! Use your fingers! Use a pick! Use a dead rat! I don't care, just be funky!

Keyboard/Synth - Think a wide range of funk/disco, herbie hancock, synth leads, 80's cheese, reggae/blues/jazz, and can fill in tastefully on the rock stuff that didn't actually have any keys in it to begin with. Fill in for the rhythm guitar during solo guitar parts, play guitar solos on keys, etc. If you actually play guitar and could simply swap instruments when needed - Awesome Pants!

Drums - Again, capable of holding down solid beats (duh), range from funk to reggae, metal, jazz. Look at it this way... if your favorite band's name starts with "Nickel" and ends in "Back"... well... just don't bother replying. Having electric drums or just a few pads would help, too.

We might also be looking for a brass player to fill in the sound even more. Again, you know the kind of music we'll be playing. Bonus if you can play percussion, too, to make for sexier dancy time.

The goal is to play in solid bars, live music venues, and private parties to crowds of people who are actually interested in the music. I can't say we won't play to a few bored sports bars in the beginning, but you've gotta work your way up somehow.

Must be at least 21 years old (or have enough facial hair to look it enough so as to not get carded and kicked out before we play a gig)

Must be willing to play multiple times a week if we get good shows booked at good venues.

Must have solid equipment. Must have reliable transportation. Must generally act like an adult and get to shows early and practices on time.

Must be willing to do a shot or two before the set and capable of still playing your sh*t right. (Okay, you don't have to if you don't want to, but no straight-edge douchepants, please. We're here to have fun, dammit!)

I can send you a list of current songs we're looking to play if you want to see before deciding if this is worth your time. We've got solid contacts in the greater Houston area and will hopefully be able to leverage those to avoid the redneck sports bar circuit.
