ABOUT

Lilac PsyChrist is a work in progress. the name and vision are subject to possibly being changed as I respect the needs of new members. However it is also very much my brainchild and I do have a specific vision for how the project should unfold. I dont intend to be the fascist dictator of this project but I do have certain needs when it comes to my investment in this whole thing.

I do not currently have a practice space but as I am serious about taking this somewhere I am looking into renting a space downtown. If we hit it off well enough perhaps we could go in on the space together...but that means practicing regularly.

The Vision:

DISCLAIMER: if you want to just have a fun basic punk band with nothing too deep or escoteric sounding thats fine. I am very flexible and Im not one of those artists whose obsessed with their vision as if its everything. But I would like to eventually realize the vision that i do have:

The band itself should be be 3-5 people including myself though the people involved in the whole performance could be larger. I want it to eventually be an audiovisual experience involving projection of films that we make around transpersonal archetypes/symbols that will create in the audience the desired effect (awe/joy/sadness/anger).

I see the music as a combination of many genres:
glam/folk/rock/goth/punk. For me genres at this point in history dont matter the way that they used to. If you look at any of the successful bands these days they got to that point by combining multiple genres in a way that hadnt been done before and also figured out how to make that combination appealing.

But one classification that does matter: PUNK. this band has to be punk. Its going to be wierd punk that no one has heard before...but it has to be punk. I want to go to the core of what punk is...wrestle with it...make out with it...steal its secrets...and unleash it as a force for psychic liberation.

Further description: I am as far from emo as someone could be...but on the other hand my singing is very emotive and deeply cathartic at times.

80s industrial/goth rock/ dark folk is a big influence on me. Im a huge fan of psychic TV...Virgin Prunes...Bauhaus...Christian Death...etc. But Im also not a snob and Im very flexible when it comes to finding common ground musically.

Im looking to get together a group of people who can find common ground musically and as the granolas say "jam". I have a very good musical ear...can tune a guitar pretty fast and have a very good sense for falling into the right rhythm and harmony.

Currently just myself. Originally we were a two person band called the Witch Chromosomes: I played guitar and sang and Rosco played drums and sang. We have since broken up.
