ABOUT

Half an Dinari for my life story !

I was born at a very early age in Birmingham, UK and grew up in the Midlands - the cultural center of England’s music industry. Consequently, music was a big influence on my childhood.
I was forced into piano lessons at the tender age of six (when I really wanted to play the bass), but was so terrified of my music teacher (a red-headed, old battle-axe of a woman armed with a long ruler she used to smack my knuckles when I dropped a note), that I jacked it in after just a few lessons... hence I’m largely self-taught.
I played with a bunch of different groups and bands over the years, some pretty good... others downright awful, and actually came close to getting somewhere when the last band I was with in the UK was offered a record deal with EMI - providing we dropped the singer.
Unfortunately, she and the drummer were, how shall we say, romantically involved... so my hopes of becoming a mega-rich songwriter were dashed.
Still, such is life.. and one does need to focus on one’s career and such... so this I did... and barely touched a note for the next 16 years or so.
However, meeting my soul-mate (and now wife) Lisa, led me to the USA where new opportunities abounded... and a casual jam with a couple of guys lead on to bigger things.
Sure, I was a bit rusty... but it brought me back with a rush.. and a load of expenditure!
I am now honored to part of Alchemy... some of the most talented musician’s & nicest bunch of folks I have ever played with.

Influences

This is a tough one for me... undoubtedly my sound has been shaped by the talented folks I've rubbed shoulders with or listened to over the years... but if you had to liken my style to anyone in particular, I honestly haven't got a clue.
