I've been playing electric guitar recreationally since high school. Taught myself a bit of bass and drums. Took piano lessons for a year. Taught myself a bunch of acoustic covers and learned how to sing a bit and have done some performing in that vein. Had a basement space and tried getting a band together for a while, but it was attracting people who wanted to drink and socialize more than they wanted to create musical magic together. I'm looking for people who want to practice together regularly and not let drink and drugs take priority over solid tune making.
Lately I've been enjoying Big Thief and lead singer Adrienne Lenker's solo stuff, Purple Mountains and Shannon and the Clams. Other bands/musicians I love include Hurray for the Riff Raff, Animal Collective, Flaming Lips, Kurt Vile, Courtney Barnett, Etta James, Blaze Foley, Patsy Cline, Sam Cooke, and David Bowie
