Band to Join, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Keyboard, Electronic Music.ABOUT
I'm mostly a guitarist, though I can make passable noises on a variety of instruments. More than anything, I'd love to jam, especially with a 2nd guitarist. Someone who is willing to play 1 of the 2 parts on Slayer's "South of Heaven" (or, swap out for Interpol, At the Drive In, Fugazi, Smashing Pumpkins, whatever). I've played out in a band situation some in the past (in GR, Detroit, Lansing, Alma), but I'd like to have a larger musical circle. As far as genre preferences... I guess "Something that would've been played on college radio in the '90s" is a fairly good shorthand, though I'm OK with most genres we'd broadly call "Rock". What I'm NOT looking for is: Blues, Gospel, Modern Country, Southern Rock.
I'm benjaminterry, and can be reached with a Google address.

Influences
There is what I like, then what I tend to sound like. This is kind of a hard section to fill out. Let me go with: At the Drive In, Jimi Hendrix, Fugazi, Swervedriver, Prong. That covers some bases. My favorite guitarists (not that I necessarily sound like them): Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Kaki King, Agata (Melt Banana), Marnie Stern, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Dimebag Darrell. My favorite bassist is Matt Freeman (Rancid).

EQUIPMENT
Umm... too much. 2 powered Mackie PA speakers. A variety of mics. A bunch of guitars (though I tend to play my Gibson SG the most), a Schecter Bass, some keyboards, a set of drums, a bunch of stomp boxes, Fender HotRod Deluxe amp of some sort, my old high school coronet... silly "First Act" accordion from Meijer, etc. You know, the usual stuff.

Theme to Sealab 2021 Track number: 12 Year: 2009 Album: Lost Time Accident Genre: Alternative
We played some cover songs; Pixies, Fugazi, Sebadoh, but my fav was this silly cover of the theme song from the Adult Swim cartoon "Sealab 2021". I'm on guitar & vox.

Experiment 3 Track number: 3 Year: 2004 Album: Circle Fears Square w/Ben Genre: Alternative
I'm on the distorted guitar on this track. It's basically an instrumental jam, but shows a different side of my playing. Being a jam, it isn't the most concise...

David VanBat Track number: 8 Year: 1996 Album: Proferia Genre: Metal
This is trashy garage metal from the '90s. Teenagers entertaining themselves by being crass & stupid, recorded on cassette 4-track. I'm on guitar here.

What Does She Think I Am? Track number: 22 Year: 1996 Album: Proferia Genre: Lounge
More teenage cassette 4-track stupidity. This time I'm on vocals & guitar, but I would like to emphasize that I did not write the lyrics! Just kids entertaining themselves.
