ABOUT

my playing is hard hitting but ornamental and polyrhythmatic. i tend to reject the obvious straight beat at first, improvising toms and unusual rests to syncopate with the melody, and work with a reductive writing process from there. the objective is arrive at a unique and fully distilled rhythm that is no more or less what it needs to be to energize and complement the theme and concept of the song.

Yamaha Maple Absolute 5-piece, 2nd soprano snare, Roland SPD-S sampling pad with triggers, the usual cymbals.

Also have a 6-pad/3-cymbal set of Roland V-Drums with 100 pre-set kit sounds. Its performance-ready but I've only ever used it for practice.

A variety of hand drums and percussion pieces lie in wait.
