Looking for a guitar player, keyboard player and bassist to create a contemporary, yet post-punk sound similar to The Kills, Sonic Youth, and the likes.... Charging chord progressions with an English Fuzz guitar sound, clever unexpected lyrics with melodic surprises. I'd love to have all members of the band be able to sing back up, but if that can’t happen, I’d like to (like The Kills) have one male voice support and duet with me. I revel in the idea of working with a keys player who adds complexity and is a real sonic artist. We’re looking to write originals, so bring your ideas! I sing and write melody/lyrics. Nick, the band’s drummer, writes also. We’re just getting started… some covers will be done to flush out the set list, especially in the beginning. This also help to get gigs - but our intention is NOT to be a cover band!
We both live in Petaluma, so rehearsals will be close by and we will want to play in the North Bay.
Check out the songs Future Starts Slow, Doing It To Death, Heart of a Dog, Black Balloon, and Tape Song by The Kills to get an idea.... Do It Clean, by Echo and the Bunnymen and Balance by Melt Yourself Down are great examples too. Looking forward to collaboration.
Once we get going on something that feels right we’d like to rehearse regularly, gig, and play around as a hobby (that hopefully pays for itself). We’ll need to get a couple songs recorded for marketing purposes. I've lead a band that gigged several times a month and it was a lot of work, so I'd be willing to get help with that part of it too! I'm also looking for mature adults with good communication skills and integrity! Mostly sober helps, but not a dealbreaker. Be prepared to pitch in for rehearsal space and other costs of playing in a band!
