Erwan Alexis is a Franco American singer songwriter, composer. His style and Musical influences blend his Caribbean origins, French education and American upbringing and consequently Erwan speaks and sings in three languages. The son of world renowned Choreographer and singer song writer Carole Alexis and accomplished percussionist Laurent Albert, Erwan is a third generation artist and therefore did not choose the arts but was quite literally born "in it". The Harlem Native grew up inside dance rehearsals and recording studio spaces, grandiose concert halls like Carnegie hall, Lincoln center, l'Atrium amongst others. Although exposed to language, literature, dance and music Alexis also grew up in the neighborhood of Harlem and since his early childhood was able to soak in much of the culture, fashion, language and art that gave birth to such icons such as Langston Hughes, duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong as well as rappers like BIG L, & Puff Daddy. If one were to categorize Erwan's music or assign it to a genre, there would be no clear path nor would it be an easy task. Although his music often maintains a foundation built around hip-hop, funk and world music, frequently he adds elements from Pop, Soul, Rhythm as well as more classical genres to build something entirely unique. The singer's biggest influencers are just to name a few Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Tupac, Gloria Estefan, Felix Saba Lecco, Miles Davis, Harry Belafonte, Youssou N'Dour, Stevie wonder, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Aznavour, Beethoven, Barbara, Eugene Mona, Jacques Brel, amongst other all time greats.
