ABOUT

I am a versatile bass player with 40+ years playing experience. I play a lot but I've recently retired from a long professional career and I'm looking for a good band that is into playing progressive funk, soul or neo-soul and blues stylistically along the lines of The Meters, Tedeshi Trucks, The Allman Brothers, Soulive, Gallactic, Grey Boy Allstars, Stevie Wonder, Sly & the Family Stone, and all the fusion grooves in between.

Influences

I have a multifaceted wide range of musical influences, not limited to but including the following acts: The Crusaders, The Yellowjackets, Booker T & the MG’s, George Duke, Patrice Rushen & Chaka Khan with Rufus. Specific bassists that I consider key influences include George Porter Jr (The Meters), Willie Weeks (Donny Hathaway), James Jamerson (Motown Studio Musician), Carl Radle (George Harrison/Derek & and the Dominoes), Rocco Prestia (Tower of Power), Nathan East (Eric Clapton). Too many more to mention but I like bass players that lay down a groove and are subtle about it.

3 piece accoustic trio that occasionally has a drummer. We play our unique take and songs by established artists from the Beatles to John Hiatt Elton John to Porno for Pyro’s. We never do the same show more than once and we never do the same take on anything we play. Sounds weird but it’s awesome.

Rocking Rockabilly, British Invasion Surf band with Dave Shamrock on vocals, Roger Underwood guitar, Will Wiegler drums and Ira Sussman upright and electric basses.

We play cuts off the Layla album and play other tunes mostly from the early 1970’s. The band features Louis Zagoras on guitar, and vocals, Graham King on guitar and vocals, Scott Kaufman on Keyboards and vocals, Dave Harris on drums and Ira Sussman on bass
