I took guitar lessons when I was 13 from the old guitar tech from Grand Funk railroad for a few years and really got into Hendrix, Zepplin, Clapton, Tom Petty and other classicrock acts. He taught me how to use my ear to guide me on strumming, keys and guitar tonality. I was taught to play along with full band tracks to get the feel of playing with a band on my timing, metronome or click track.
For a while I got into the whole thrash metal bit and concentrated on the gallop and palm mutes.
After lessons I still played quite often because its an outlet for me and jamed with a few metal bands in the past in rehearsals but never played live gigs out or toured. I have recorded a few rough guitar tracks my orginals and covers against some backing tracks and burned on cds to critic myself. Have a few things still on my digital recorder.
Cause of my past career path I only played here and there but career paths changed and have the fire to get back into it. I'm interested in taking it to the next step if I can and playing rhythm guitar or some lead for a band and play in some local gigs around. I really want to expirence that feeling and learn about live gigging.
I'm open to different styles of music. I"m not much into country guitar playing but anything else like Metal, Punk classic Rock or even blues I can do or learn.
I can read tabs, know some theory, scales, keys and have a musical ear to know what sounds good or out of tune.
