ABOUT

Joe Harrier - Profile

Hello and thanks for taking the time to review my profile. I am a very solid and versatile bassist and I work well with others. I have a very creative mind when it comes to music. I play the electric, acoustic and double bass in any genre. You can hear some of my music at ./joeharrier You can also listen on you tube, under joe harrier as well as aaron hall.
I have been accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston, but can't find the money to get there yet. To hear a clip of the song I wrote and auditioned with go to .basschool click on recitals, then look for my name.
You can hear a couple of songs on you tube under the name dadavis48186. I have played in this highly improvisational jazz band, called Miles Ahead, in the last year. We played at a festival in Port Huron this summer. We also played at a new restaurant in Port Huron as well. The video of the festival is not the best quality, but maybe it can give you a glimpse of my playing ability.
Currently, I am in a band called Clarity (a gospel jazz band), as well as Miles Ahead. Both these bands play sporadically. You can look on my space under Timothy Gothra to hear some music done by Clarity.
It was a priviledge to contribute to two cd’s, as well. One with Clarity, and the other was a gospel group called The New Mighty Inspirations.
I started playing electric bass in the jazz band in middle school. I had a great instructor who not only encouraged following the music, but improvisation as well. I then started playing in the youth band at church. In high school, I began playing the upright and played all four years in the jazz and symphonic bands.
During this time, I participated in the fine arts festival through the Assembly of God denomination, and took merit twice in the state of Michigan. I was able to participate in the national competition in the conference center in Orlando, Florida, where I took 7th and 11th place. There were thousands of participants.
I continued to play in the youth band at church, and began playing in the adult worship service in 10th grade. I also was part of a band called Tune Bay. We played retreats, coffee houses, and had an opportunity to play at Lou's Blues in Florida. This is older stuff, but if you are interested, you might be able to access them at ./tunebay also ./sundaypromise (another group I played in at the same time).
I attended Macomb Community College as a music major and participated in the Jazz band there for 2 years. During this time I was also in a progressive rock group called Harper, which you can access at ./harper We played a number of shows together before our schedules got too hectic with school.
I am looking for something that will give me greater opportunity to play and grow. I do have a goal to play music for a living. I come to life with my bass in my hands.
It looks like this is more than a few words. I am sorry. I do hope it gives you some insight into who I am. Feel free to call me and perhaps we can set up a time for me to audition.

Thank you,
Joe Harrier
