ABOUT

I sing and write lyrics and do vocal arrangements (by ear). I'm interested to perform live and do studio recordings.

If you want to use charts or sheet music, that's fine with me. I will have lyrics and my notes in front of me. This is purely for the fun of it. This is my hobby. There will be no compensation of any kind except for the wonderful joy in the music.

Singing and songwriting (lyrics, melodies in pop, alternative, metal, Broadway, and other styles) are my hobbies.

I like performing originals and covers in hobby bands for fun. I like to do free shows for friends and family and do fundraisers for animal rescue charities. Music is my hobby. I don't get paid to do music. Keeping it a hobby keeps it fun for me.

I've been a band front woman / lead singer and like to sing Chick Rock (female singers, female-fronted rock bands) and female-fronted pop, electronic dance music, alternative, and melodic metal / symphonic / gothic metal.

My comfortable vocal range is E3 to C6. I often take some creative liberty with the songs I sing. Music is my hobby. I like to perform fairly regularly. There's no sense in rehearsing if you don't perform. I practice at home about 3 times per week.

In bandmates and co-writers, I like people who are creative, calm, and competent. Reliability is also really important. I'd rather be with people who are dependable, nice, and put in effort to sound great than with geniuses who are divas or flighty or argumentative.

Videos and audio files of me singing are also available on S .. o .. u.. n .. d .. c ..l ..o..u.. d (MargotRudell) and Y..... o... u ..T.. u . b ... e . (Margot Rudell).

In the SF Bay Area, I've performed as band front woman at El Rio, Freewheel Brewing Company, Lennon Sound Stage, a Ft. Mason festival, Mama Art Cafe, a Walnut Creek art and business walk, Red Devil Lounge, The Knockout, Cafe du Nord, and The Connecticut Yankee.

Original songs co-written by me (Margot Rudell) and Tom McCarthy and where I wrote the lyrics and vocal melody are Firebird (rock song posted on SoundCloud and YouTube), What Do You Dream (alternative rock song posted on YouTube), and Change (soft rock/singer songwriter style song posted on SoundCloud). Tom wrote and produced all the instrumental music.

Original songs co-written by me (Margot Rudell) and Melissa Hobbes Cherry when we were GlimmerBand1 are: Sailboats Sailing, The Secret, Freedom, Bygones, Machine, Not Polyamorous. I wrote the lyrics for Sailboats Sailing and Not Polyamorous and co-wrote the lyrics for Freedom and The Secret. I wrote the vocal melody I sang for all of the above originals. Melissa wrote all the guitar music.

The Man I Loved (a blues/jazz song in the style of Ella Fitzgerald / movie soundtracks / cabaret was co-written by me and my friend, Pablo Lococo. Pablo and I also co-wrote Inside My Heart - a show tune / movie soundtrack song. In each case I wrote the lyrics. I wrote the vocal melody and harmonies for The Man I Loved. Pablo wrote and produced all the instrumental music.
