ABOUT

Howdy,
Sorry, no photos of me....only the gear I use. I'm trying to make some like-minded connections so....not interested in personal shots at this time.
Trust me I have plenty of band shots...promo shots etc. etc. but that really doesn't matter all that much. Attitude does. Fortitude does. What it all comes down to is WHAT DO WANT TO DO ? What is YOUR goal ? Putting my feelers out is.

Well, do read on if you wish to get a backdrop of what I'm about, what I'm looking for, what I hope to achieve. A little lengthy but, I want to include the things that matter. Experience and professionalism are what matter. And of course...the ability to play well goes without saying. GROOVE. GROOVE. GROOVE. I AM a seasoned player ( that much I can say ) and I've always, always HATED the salesmanship / selling of selling one's abilities to others. I'm pretty humble about that. But....I don't lay-back either. I'm not a front man/ vocalist but, I fall in the line of the many guitar players that have had bands that had their name out front and I'm no exception but, I wish to make clear that I am available to JOIN someone's band if elected. I'm just talking about when I had MY own band years ago. I am BIG on collaborating ideas, songs, act.....all important stuff....for "presentation." Not interested in wanna-be's.

So, for me, it now comes to the seek and destroy mission of ....." gettin' IN with the RIGHT establishment. Personally, I'm just way t-o-o humble ( but genuine) a person to "over-hype-up" my accomplishments but..... luckily I have all that stuff in my press kit. And that I have by request. Much, much better than someone blowing smoke ! But...I have "brag" on some things or it won't get across, either. Goes with the territory. Singer Van Morrison said it best : "Music is spiritual. The music business is not." How very true. The business end stinks, I think, which pretty much puts me where I am today. In short : I HATE ALL THE BULLsh*t ! That, has nothing to do with expressing your musical art forms. If you got in it for drugs...DON'T CONTACT ME. If you got in it for booze....DON'T CONTACT ME. If you got in it for just the money...DON'T CONTACT ME. BUT.....If you got in to it to be a REAL professional entertainer....love the instrument you play.....DO CONTACT ME. That's the difference right there !!!

My name is Mark DeSilva. I currently live in 'lil R.I. though I have the location different on the Dasboard due to my future residency soon. That's a process in the works.... while I scout around on the computer to find things etc. Reason being....I love hot, dry, clear, sunny days with awestruck scenes. Living in Az. for 4.5 years spoiled me. I am single, road worthy and "a free spirit". My objective is to play. What about you ???

Years ago I used to have a band 'round here called "M.D. and the All Night Vigil." We were a blues/ rock, 3-piece band and played the whole northeast area at the time. This was 1988-1992. We called our stuff "houserockin' music" and intentionally played the "B" sides of artists..., just to be a bit more adventurous / versatile... and to separate ourselves from the typical "blooze" bands that were out there. We promoted the music as first n' foremost, while playing some covers as well as originals to keep the ball rolling. No one's gonna thank you for it in the end by playing "human jukebox" covers all night with NO imagination, originality, creativity or act to back-up the music you're playing. I'm at the age now where originals should be presented... just as much as the others. I personally feel I should've done that a LONG TIME AGO !! But, I think it's super cool when a jazz or bluegrass band play some Top 40 songs under in the style they are representing but by creatively altering it to fit they're agenda. There are bands out there that do that and it can really be enjoyable to hear it played that way. Kudos !

The M.D. and the All Night Vigil band got to share the stage with some heavy notables over the years such as Roomful of Blues, ( they're from right here in R.I. I knew 'em all )
rockabilly legend Sleepy LaBeef, blues legend Jimmie Rogers ( still have his business card that he gave me as a momentum ) Sapphire, the Uppity Blues Women and much, much more. Unfortunately, most are gone now ( or the bands are gone ) but the memories are still there, as well as the exchanges that took place from back then.
Those are the styles I play.
That's IS my bag, first and foremost.

I came upon this "Bandmix" site quite by accident. So, with that in mind I say this, any / all interested parties / bands / musicians that are out there who wish to inquire, SEND ME AN EMAIL. It's ( Kamoasepoah ) and go from there. Not into pretentious bullsh*t so that email address has to be broken down like this ( Kamoasepoah at Gee mail dot calm ) Get it ? Try.

Let's
talk.
Let's
connect.
Thank you for your time n' patience on this matter I can't make it any plainer than that.
Sincerely,
Mark.
