ABOUT

Note: all song samples are uploaded without processing- you can hear how I really play.

The greatest thing you can do for anyone- is inspire them. You write the song for you, but you hope it means something to "them". Music is such a powerful force for good, for change, and altering the world around you. It's not about riches and fame- it's about sending emotion to as many people as you can. It's about being fully human, fully alive, and creating energy which influences others... in small... or sometimes big ways.

You sculpt air, cause vibration, and open perspectives. It's a language that everybody knows, but no one ever masters.

I've got 10 years pro experience but left the music business in 1993. But I still play very well. Very importantly my brain and ear are fine! Studied music at University of Illinois, and have professional experience as a recording engineer and studio musician.

I'm primarily interested in writing and playing out a bit (or a lot?). I have been feeling the need to be "substantially creative". So having a writing partner, or partners, would be great. Would also like to work with a female vocalist- mostly because much of my material would sound compelling in a female voice.

The music I'm currently writing is a smattering of blues, rock, neo-classical, and whatever else strikes my fancy. I've got some original material ready to go, lots of ideas, and a thousand snippets.

My main influences when starting out as a guitarist were Lifeson and Page. However as an adult my tastes run very wide and I'm focused on *acoustic* rock- perhaps amplified (loudly). I do not sound like Lifeson or Page, However you probably could find some similarity in the way I voice chords.

Also, I've got no desire to be a 1980's style guitarist. Been there and done that. You Eddie Van Halen acolytes please exit stage left.

If you think Andy McKee is cool, you might like my stuff. If you like Dave Matthews, you might like my stuff. If you know what "Broon's Bane" is you might like my stuff. Elmore James. Kansas. Chickenfoot. Boston. Alice in Chains. Paul Simon. The Who, Rush. Blackmore.

Influences

Gosh....

Well my current playlist has a lot of Zeppelin (How the West was Won), The Circle, Chickenfoot, Chon, Vivaldi, and Zappa (We're only in it for the Money), ETC.

Next week it might be NSYNC and Joan Osborne.

As an aside, I'm pretty frustrated that a lot of profiles tend to not have examples of their music. I'm not contacting anyone based on their photos. Don't care what anyone looks like.

EQUIPMENT

Currently playing a new Taylor 214ce DLX. If I'm playing live I am used to a Charvel Model 5, and a Gallien Kruger twin. If it got to the point where I was playing live with a band, I'd pony up for a Hughes and Kentner Tri-Amp.
