SEEKING
Vocalist - Tenor, Rhythm Guitar.ABOUT
I’m a songwriter and lead guitarist putting together an all-original hard rock band. I have a kick ass drummer who’s been with me for over a year, and we’re trying to build out the lineup, starting with a bass player.
The below recordings were done by me and a different drummer so I could demo the material to get a band together, so this is not the current drummer. Please try to not get too distracted by my sh*t-ass vocals. I had to do them since I don’t know a singer who can, but my vox tracks are enough to give you a sense of the melody and what we’re trying to accomplish. If you’re in a hurry, the first three tunes are less than 10 mins total and will give you a clear picture of what we're trying to do.
Bassist: Your ability to groove is way more important than any “chops” you may have. We’re fine with some more intricate bass lines, but they gotta be in the pocket with the drummer. The goal is to get you up to speed as quickly as possible with four songs, then start hitting open mics with me on lead vox so we can find the other pieces. If you’re a fast learner we can at least be on an open mic stage soon after joining. All things equal, a person who can sing bg vox will get the call, but it’s not required for this role. Lyric sheets and primitive charts will be provided to help you quickly learn the song structure.
Frontman: Don’t let my limitations as a singer cloud what these songs could be. These tunes need ballsy rock vocals with plenty of attitude. I’d like you to stick close to the melodies, but make them sound rock ‘n roll. I’m singing them in the range they’re at because I’m a baritone and can’t sing higher. Ideally a singer would sing most of what I sang an octave higher (think From The Strip to The Hills as a Vince Neil vocal part). We are open to different interpretations, but a higher voice probably has a better chance. I’ve had a few people reach out who do more of a Bowie/Reed kind of thing, and that type of brooding baritone just doesn’t work. I understand given the varied nature of these songs not every one is going to be in your vocal wheelhouse. That’s fine. I don’t expect anyone to perfectly thread this needle. Just do what you do, and if you're the one, I'll work with you on tailoring the songs to your strengths where I can. I'll provide lyric sheets and some tracks without my vocals if you get an audition.
