Influences

Qingege is a Guzheng artist who has magnified the traditional artistic expression
and who has made me take another look at this traditional instrument.
To Qingege, Guzheng is her rivers and mountains while her posture of playing
resembles an empress who rules an empire. Her performance is elegant, grandiose,
intensive, and full of charm. Twenty-one strings can be either plucked, struck,
pressed, or caressed, all under her discretion. From one moment to another, she
may be picking tea leaves on the hills, observing stars in the sky, riding the waves,
or enjoying the moon reflection. It is such a surprise to me that someone can perform
Guzheng in such a way that brings listeners to either a deafening thunderstorm or a
soul cleansing spring so vividly.
