Influences
40's thru current Top 40. Big band, jazz, fusion, rock, modern and classic country, blues, Motown, r&b.
Being raised in Detroit, I was influenced by a very wide and diverse spectrum of music. You don't know it at first, but it all becomes part of your musical background and vocabulary.
I was scholastically trained on trumpet for 8 years. It was another source of my musical vocabulary, and expanded my views of what could be.
My mother was my 1st influence. She played piano and sang. Always had music in the house.
From there, my palette grew and grew. Introduced to African beats, show tunes, classical and opera, Jazz thru my grandfather.
Still learning today. Never stop, never give up.
The more you learn, the dumber you become.
